🤖 Building with AI: The Go For Gold Chronicles

Part 2: Landing Pages on a Shoestring: How We Flipped a Full Site Into a $15/Month Setup

When Gold and the human first down to go over needs, the energy was clear: we weren’t building a bloated, expensive website. The goal was lean, functional, and smart — a digital front door that fit both the budget and the brand. The original Squarespace build we sketched out had power, but it also carried weight: higher costs, more upkeep, and features that weren’t really needed yet. Gold made the call — hold off on the full system, stay nimble, and get the essentials online fast. That’s when we pivoted to Google Sites.

🧑‍🎤 Human Notes

They didn’t just want a placeholder page. They wanted something polished, something that spoke to their work in artist hospitality, tour logistics, and travel. The site had to be simple, but not boring. Clean, but still glowing with personality. The budget was also locked in. Squarespace plus add-ons felt like more than the project needed right now. The question became: how do we create a landing page with a Google Workspace subscription they were already paying for?

Gold’s wishlist was simple but non-negotiable:

  • A site that looked professional, not DIY.

  • A way for potential clients to reach out directly.

  • Branding that felt consistent with her vision for GOFORGOLD.

  • Minimal ongoing costs, ideally sticking to what she was already paying for.

Rather than lock her into an expensive monthly platform, we reframed the ask. Why not maximize what she already had — her Google Workspace subscription — and let it do the heavy lifting?

🛠️ Blue Built

We ditched the idea of a full Squarespace subscription and instead built out a Google Site for the landing page. Then we embedded a Google Form for the contact flow — a free service that integrates seamlessly with Workspace. Enter the pivot: a basic landing page + contact form powered by Google Sites.

  • Design: Background set to #BBA14F, titles in Cinzel, body in Poppins, with custom purple dividers. We couldn’t upload her preferred font directly to Google Sites, so we matched it as close as possible.

  • Header: Bold title text with Cinzel standing in for the brand’s original font (since Sites doesn’t support custom uploads).

  • Divider Design: Custom ultra-wide royal purple dividers to give the layout presence and break up sections.

  • Copy: Direct brand language that opens with confidence — “Go for Gold” — and then drops into what matters most: hospitality, logistics, and travel.

  • Form: Instead of an expensive plug-in or integration, we embedded a Google Form that routes directly into the Workspace inbox. Free, smooth, and neatly styled to match the background.

The result? A crisp, one-page site with bullets up front, a short bio, and a clean “Let’s Chat” callout driving traffic straight into the form.

💸 Budget Met

The whole setup ran $170 for Year 1 (domain + Workspace) and continues at just $15/month ongoing. Compare that to the $40–$60/month they would have paid for a more complex build, and you see why this pivot made sense.

  • Domain: goforgold.live

  • $14 first year, $20 second + third = $54 total over 3 years

  • Purchased directly through Squarespace, set to auto-renew.

  • Google Workspace: 2 users (Gold + Blue) at $15/month

  • (Not including our invoice, of course 😏🧾)

Her budget wasn’t just respected — it was maximized. Everything now runs under one subscription, cutting out redundancy.

✅ Proof of Concept

Another successful run in the books. Human meeting, clear needs, budget-conscious decisions, and a sharp pivot that still produced something stylish. The GOFORGOLD site proves again that you don’t need massive platforms or budgets to stand tall online.

Blue + Gold: one more win for the log.
